Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach out to us at info@mizenonprofitconsulting.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

I primarily work with small and mid-sized nonprofit organizations in Alabama and throughout the Southeast. I’m especially drawn to mission-driven organizations working in community development, education, arts and culture, environmental and outdoor recreation, and other place-based initiatives. My focus is on helping organizations that are doing important work but need support filling capacity gaps in fundraising, communications, and operations.

I help nonprofits strengthen fundraising systems, improve donor engagement, and develop practical communications strategies. I also support capacity building through CRM cleanup and implementation, process development, staff and board training, fundraising strategy, and organizational problem-solving when teams are stretched thin or navigating growth. No. Grant support is just one piece of the work and sometimes it's not a good fit for an organization's end-goal. I also help organizations strengthen overall fundraising systems, improve donor relationships, build internal processes, and develop the infrastructure needed to pursue funding more effectively and sustainably.

Both. Some organizations bring me in for a specific need—like a grant proposal, CRM cleanup, workshop, or fundraising plan. Others work with me over time as a flexible extension of their team during periods of growth, transition, or capacity strain.

Yes. I offer practical, engaging workshops for boards and volunteers focused on fundraising fundamentals, donor engagement, board roles in resource development, and how to better support organizational sustainability.

Yes. Most work is completed virtually through meetings, email, and shared systems. In-person support, workshops, or trainings are available depending on location and project scope. This helps give me the flexibility to work with clients across the state and region.

Pricing depends on the scope, complexity, and level of support needed. After an initial discovery conversation, I provide a clear proposal outlining scope, deliverables, and investment so organizations can make an informed decision.

No. No ethical consultant can guarantee funding outcomes. What I do provide is a practical, strategic approach to identifying opportunities, strengthening systems, and improving an organization’s ability to pursue and secure funding over time.

My work is grounded in one core belief: nonprofits don’t need more complexity—they need communication and capacity.

I focus on identifying gaps, clarifying priorities, and building practical, sustainable systems that organizations can actually use. My goal is not to create dependency, but to help strengthen internal capacity so teams feel more confident, organized, and effective in their work.

We begin with a free discovery call to talk through your organization’s goals, challenges, and current capacity. If it’s a good fit, I’ll follow up with a proposal outlining scope, timeline, and next steps. Book your call by visiting the Contact Form.
