Most nonprofit leaders don't need another consultant creating more work for them.
They need someone who can step in, identify what's getting in the way, and help build practical solutions that make the organization stronger.
That's what I've spent my career doing.
I founded Mize Nonprofit Consulting to help nonprofits strengthen fundraising, communications, organizational systems, and overall capacity.
Whether an organization is preparing for growth, navigating change, launching a new initiative, or simply trying to keep up with increasing demands, I help leaders find realistic solutions that fit their mission, staff, and resources.

Throughout my career, I've repeatedly been hired into newly created nonprofit roles designed to solve challenges organizations didn't yet have the capacity to address.
I've worked with organizations ranging from small community-based nonprofits to statewide initiatives and multi-million-dollar operations.
My experience includes:
- Managing more than $1.5 million in grant funding
- Leading fundraising and development efforts for statewide nonprofits
- Building donor stewardship and fundraising systems from the ground up
- Implementing CRM and data management systems
- Coordinating statewide partnerships and collaborative networks
- Supporting advocacy and legislative engagement efforts
- Managing communications, public relations, and stakeholder engagement initiatives
- Creating operational processes that improve efficiency and sustainability

- More than 9 years of experience in nonprofit development, communications, community engagement, and organizational capacity building
- Former Director of Growth & Development for Alabama Scenic River Trail
- Managed an active portfolio of more than $1.5 million in private grant funding at the Food Bank of North Alabama
- Experience in fundraising strategy, grant writing, donor stewardship, board engagement, communications, public relations, and organizational development
- Led CRM selection, implementation, training, and data management projects
- Developed fundraising plans, donor stewardship programs, strategic communications plans, and organizational systems
- Master's Degree in Anthropology
- Master's Degree in Southern Studies
- Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology with minors in Business Administration
- Published researcher and communications professional
Why This Work Matters
After living and working in communities across Alabama, I've become convinced that nonprofits are some of the most important drivers of positive change in our state.

Not to create dependence on a consultant, but to help organizations build the confidence, capacity, and infrastructure they need to create lasting impact for years to come.

I don't believe in creating systems that require a consultant to stay involved forever.
And I don't believe nonprofits need more complicated processes.
Instead, I help organizations identify what is already working, uncover opportunities they may be missing, and build practical systems they can confidently manage long after my work is complete.
